This photo is of my scar from surgery I had today. Not to worry, this photo was taken after it had healed substantially.
Some may ask why I chose to share this. I will tell you...I am open and honest about what goes on with my health. I know people talk, so they might as well know the truth.
Having this surgery was SO important to me. I had a tumor growing near my spine {not to worry--they aren't cancer tumors}, it just causes me a great deal of pain. So I am excited to be able to embrace this spring and summer in a little less pain!
My unoffical diagnosis is called "Neurofibromitosis " aka NF. You can read up more on it here. At this time, it isn't clear what type I have, as I suffer from benign tumors which would suggest NF2..but they don't just grow on my spine.
So now you know. Here is my latest victory wound! It is scar #7, and I proudly add it to my collection of scars, for a scar is far better than pain.
Well, I'm certainly not fainthearted. As a matter of fact, I would have loved to watch the surgery! Freaky, I know!! It's good to hear that your surgery went well, Crystal. Is this your first surgery for NF? My brother-in-law had surgery for an acoustic neuroma a few years ago - very scary. Hopefully you will not be troubled by another NF tumour - ever!
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to comment on your post Lia, and then I forget :( Turns out this tumor was a schwanomma. And I have many more that need to be removed. This disease is genetic, so my prayer is that my kids won't inherit it. I thank you very much for your comment, and am sad to hear about your brother in law's surgery. Any surgery is not good, no matter how minor it is. I hope he is doing well after it!
