Geocaching

I see every body changing their status' on facebook to things like "going geo-caching" and "just went geo-caching". And I felt really out of the loop. Having NO Idea what this whole "geo-caching" thing was all about, I decided to use the friendly tool : GOOGLE.

So I found a site that explained to me that this was a ...game I guess you would call it, that people search for items with their GPS units. Am I the only one that had NO clue what this was???

Anyways, I went to the FAQ section to read more about it. And thought this was just hilarious:

So if I have a GPS unit, someone can track where I am (and where I'm going)?

No! GPS devices do not actually broadcast your location. The satellites using radio frequencies actually broadcast their own position. Your GPS unit takes that information to figure out where you are (triangulation).
Unless you have a tracking system implanted by aliens, you should be safe from the satellites above. As an extra precaution, however, you can put aluminum foil on your head to deflect the "gamma" beams

I learnt something today, and it put a smile on my face!
